Pilates

Pilates is an exercise program designed specifically to improve your balance, flexibility, core strength, muscle tone and posture.  Pilates can improve your core stability and mobility in your spine and limbs.

It can help sporting performance by developing a more stable 'center' of your body and creating more flexible shoulder & hips.   This makes moving your arms and legs (for running, kicking, throwing and any other movement needed in sport) much more balanced, efficient and powerful.

It can be extremely beneficial when recovering from any injury to the spine, shoulders & hips for the very same reason.  There are hundreds of variations to Pilates exercises (from very easy - to extremely hard) which means most muscloskeletal injuries can be accommodated and progressively treated.   Another advantage is that special equipment is not needed (except a supportive surface) and can be done anywhere and anytime you have floor space.

Do you suffer with Back Pain??
Have you been unable to start or continue with sport or exercise classes because of back, shoulder or hip pain?

Week one looks at posture - obtaining a neutral spinal alignment in different positions.  The importance of a balance of stability and mobility in the back will also be demonstrated.  In the following weeks rehabilitation exercises will be used to gradually and progressively moblise and strengthen your back, hips & shoulders.

6-week course costs £60 and to ensure individual attention the course is limited to a maximum of 6 participants.  Sessions are held at The Marlow Club, all equipment and info provided.
