Soft
tissue injuries can be caused in any of three ways, Personal Physique Treatments can compliment the healing process of all
three:
Muscle fibres/ligaments/tendons are torn because they are over-loaded or over stretched.
When healing, fibrous adhesions can develop around the injury causing stiffness and pain to the surrounding area.
Massage can help to naturally breakdown these adhesion and temporarily boost circulation and removal
of these adhesions. Overuse
Starting a new fitness regime, stepping up training after a break or compensations
for old injuries, can slowly overload muscles causing micro-traumas, which if left unchecked, can lead to more serious injuries
like tendonitis. Overuse injuries can occur over days, weeks or even months. Certain
massage techniques are very effective at optimising the quick repair of this type of injury.
Disuse
Previous injury or poor posture/running style etc. creates muscular imbalances and
dysfunction, sometimes without you even realising it. Movement helps
to ‘pump’ nutrients into and waste away from your muscles. A muscle that is moving dysfunctionally
means the optimal natural pumping process is compromised. This can lead to a build-up of toxins, meaning a muscle not moving
properly, causing an increased build-up of toxins and so on …. The classic “use it or
lose it scenario”. Massage is one way to literally ‘kick start’ this pumping action by
the rhythmic compression and relaxation of ‘stagnant’ muscles.
